Recently with the aid of Seashore Holiday Park Management, Fugro Offshore and Norfolk Broads Lions we were able to do a much needed refurbishment of the interior and exterior of the Tower which has made us much more visible on the edge of the dunes. All the work was carried out by members of Coast Watch. Our next project is to replace our radar system and hopefully our VHF and DSC radios.

North Denes has closed June 2019

Sea Safety Group was set up as a Charity in the 1990's to act as the eyes and ears for the Coast Guard after the Government of the day reduced the number of manned coastal stations. They approached Great Yarmouth Borough Council for permission to use the old Coast Guard Tower, which was by then used for storage and in a pretty poor state. Funds were raised by the original volunteers which together with donations of equipment from local companies enabled North Denes Coast Watch to open for business.

Over the years we have assisted in the rescue of numerous persons and boats in the area and hope to continue to do so for many years yet.  We offer advice to holiday makers on safety in the sea and on the beach, keeping watch in 4 hour watches during daylight hours every day of the year including Christmas Day.

All  Watch Keepers are fully trained and willingly give their time and provide their own uniforms, which make us more visible to the public, to help keep those who use the beach and local seas safe.

To raise much needed funds we have stalls at local Carnivals and the Maritime Festival, we also collect in Market Square and Market Gates Shopping Centre, for which we thank those involved. We are also open for visitors every day and all donations from these visitors are most gratefully received.
