Pakefield Coast Watch is part of a charitable trust called the Sea Safety Group which is an independent group of coastal watch stations.  We are one of a growing number of coastal surveillance stations, manned by volunteer men and women, located around the coast of mainland Britain.

All stations carry out the same task which is to assist Her Majesty's Coastguard in their task in helping people in trouble, on or near the sea.

H.M. Coastguard recognises the worth of coastal surveillance stations and many, including Pakefield, qualify for "Declared Facility Status" which means that they have been recognised as contributing to the safety of life by operating a coastal lookout.

Pakefield Coast Watch is responsible to Her Majesty's Coastguard, Great Yarmouth whose area of operations extend from the River Humber southwards to the River Blyth at Southwold.

Pakefield Coast Watch covers approximately from Lowestoft to the village of Kessingland and as far out to sea, to the east, as visibility allows.

We hope that you will enjoy your visit to our web site but please remember that it will not be as good as an actual visit to see us at work or to actually join us as a volunteer watch-keeper.
