We are happy to show visitors around our lighthouse as well as the operations room located at the of the building.

We would ask anyone visiting us to remember that we are an operational coastwatch station.  If a rescue or other operation is underway then the station may be closed to visitors for the duration of the operation.  The station may also be closed  whilst a watch changeover is taking place.

An important part of our daily operation is the monitoring of the marine VHF radio sets which enable us to listen to the local port operations centre,  general shipping and the emergency services channel.  Some communications can be very short and it is easy to miss an important part if you are not able to concentrate.  If a radio message is received during your visit then it does help if you can remain silent for the duration of the message.

As well as ad-hoc visitors we also welcome organised groups.  We have a large number of these during the summer and winter seasons and would be happy to discuss arranging a visit from any interested group, club, school or institution.  Please go the the Contact page or simply click here to be transferred.

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

It is unfortunate that the physical construction of a lighthouse does not lend itself to easy access and this may place restrictions on people who may be disabled.  We hope that this can be improved in the future but would recommend that you contact us if you feel that this might affect you.

We look forward to your visit to our lighthouse.

The station may also be closed  whilst a watch changeover is taking place.
