Watch Members
|
|
All
members of Pakefield Coast Watch are volunteers who freely give time each
week to man the station.
No previous experience is necessary for new watch members as "on the watch" training is given to all trainee watch keepers. Training is also undertaken at your own pace and when you feel ready to do so, then you may sit your written and oral test to become a qualified watch keeper. Eighteen months after becoming a qualified watch keeper, there is an automatic promotion to senior watch keeper. There are no age or fitness requirements, many of our members are in fact retired. In the event of you having a physical disability or illness then we will ensure that another watch keeper is always on duty with you. Whilst the business of helping to maintain safety around our shores is a serious one, our watches are always maintained in a friendly and informal manner. During the year we also organise social events, including visits to local maritime organisations for members of our team. The only cost involved is for your own uniform and £1 each month which goes into our "tea boat" fund for refreshments on duty. We always need and welcome new members. If you feel that you would like to join us then simply go to the contacts page of our site and call or email us. The following is an alphabetical list of current and past watch members together with photographs where they are available. We would welcome adding your name to the list. |
